Madame Guyon

This poem was written by Madame Guyon while in prison for her faith, 1688.

A little bird I am,
Shut from the fields of air;
and in my cage I sit and sing
To Him who placed me there:
Well pleased a prisoner to be
Because, my God, it pleases Thee.

Naught I have I else to do;
I sing the whole day long;
And He whom most I love to please,
Doth listen to my song:
He caught and bound my wandering wing,
But still he bends to hear me sing.

My cage confines me round;
Abroad I cannot fly;
But though my wing is closely bound,
My heart's at liberty;
My prison walls cannot control
The flight, the freedom of the soul.
Oh! it is good to soar
These bolts and bars above,
To Him whose purpose I adore,
Whose providence I love;
And in Thy mighty will to find
The joy, the freedom of the mind
.

hey back! ya that ice is NO FUN!! our biggest problem here (we are a day north of you) is the winds when it snows . . . makes for white-out conditions on the highways that are definitely a challenge to drive through . . . basically we stay off the roads then!! my husband of course doesn't venture out much, and i keep him company ... :o)

boy that lady from your church must have a strong faith!!! i couldn't imagine being leo's caregiver and having 10 kids as well!!! tho' at our age - they would all be pretty well grown and maybe a support system?

i lean on the verse that says the Lord never gives us more than we are able to bear - i have to say that has been true for us - just when i think i have had enough, HE pulls us through . . . life has been interesting . . .

blessings on the rest of your week!!! hope the ice doesn't hamper any more of your plans!!!
