it's Valentine's day again

we recycle cards ... all types of cards ... we have every card we've EVER given each other saved and ready for re-use, to re-give to each other ... just one of those quirky things - maybe some of you guys do that too?

well i must qualify that ... i do make new cards, or buy new cards for Leo ... i get out more often - and he barely does anymore - so Leo's card store is: our card drawer!

now i'm finally getting to the point of this little post ... yesterday, before i left for work, i placed the card i had bought for Leo by his pills (i knew he couldn't miss it there!) ... and he had left his card for me on the sofa ... we exchanged cards without seeing what the other had picked out ... now take another look at the picture above - we both went with a white background, surrounding a simple heart insert ... and rather than a funny inner note - both cards included strong love sentiments ... *smile* ... i thought that was a neat little coincidence ... or is it just the 34 Valentine's we've shared together?

hope you all have a day filled with the sweetness of God's love for us all ...

Looking back, I have this to regret, that too often when I loved, I did not say so.
--David Grayson

You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.

If we discovered that we had only five minutes left to say all that we wanted to say, every telephone booth would be occupied by people calling other people to stammer that they loved them.

What a very special Valentine's Day post. I loved reading it. Your cards are kind of like mirror-images...two..and yet one. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your true love! Its 12:17 a.m. I'm really starting the day off early...ha ha. And will be sleeping in to make up for it. Sweet dreams to you...

On our last anniversary iN January i did that with the card Mike had bought me. It was such a beautiful card so i re-gave it to him. He was really surprised..fun!! Happy Valentines day to you!! Sandy

I like that idea! First of all - cards are so expensive and it's a shame to just throw them out. Also - I spend a lot of time finding the one with the right words, might as well say it again!

Dear Saija,
jepp, I am a card collector too. I don't recycle that often though, but sweet cards with loving words, that's a shame to through away.
I'm so sad about Leo not coming out much anymore. That young, smiling man being trapped by his body.
It should not have to be like this.
I am praying for him to Lord for whom anything is possible.
My Mom is slowly training he abilities to walk in stairs. To get outside she has to manage two steps. I think she does with a few days.
The spring is a strong motivator.
Give my best to Leo (and Saija too, smiling behind her computor)

We don't spend Valentine's at all and I find that a relief. I hate all "musts" because of a certain day :S

But that girl Jessica - she sure is a wise young person!

That's a great idea - especially if your like me and put so much time into finding just the right card. Sounds like every day is filled with love in your house. I also love all your quotes, especiall the one from "Jessica age 8"...beautiful

I LOVE this--we do that too--except Fred doesn't have a clue! I even regift him gifts that he never opened or used sometimes...now you may think that's deceitful--it's actually a bit of a game we play--keeps it interesting--he loves being caught off-guard. a friend just sent a photo of she and her husband and every anniversary card they had given each other of the 50 years...they put up on the wall their past anniversary cards to each other (like we do with Christmas cards) and take a photo in front of the cards--it's soooooo neat--they were 50 years together!

Nelson and I did a similar thing one time: we bought each other the same care. My sis and I have sent our mom the same mother's day card and my bro and I sent Mom the same Hickory farms gift box.

maggie ann ... it was a nice little day we had ... quiet, spent together - a good day ...

cathy ... some cards are too pretty to throw out, aren't they?

Sandy ... yes, when the sentiment doesn't change - why not say it again! *grin*

mari .. and after 30+ years, it is fun to see how styles and phrases change ...

felisol ... i was smiling as i read your note and thought of you, across the ocean ... thank you for your prayers and i am so glad your mom is doing better!

mimi ... another kindred spirit! :o)

Deby ... hope your Val's day was a sweet one!

Eija ... i do know what you mean ... we don't buy presents or go to dinner and i don't get flowers, things like that ... but it is nice to have a day when you think of saying & doing for the one you love ...

pat ... i thought jessica's quote was wise for a little one! :o)

antibk ... *laughing* ... you guys are so funny! love it! ... and that is a neat thing your friends do ... :o)

daisy ... isn't that funny? hope all is well with you!

That's really sweet -- I didn't know you guys did that. :) I didn't know Tony kept all the cards and notes I've given him either until he was in his closet the other day and I saw all these things sticking up on the top shelf. I was all, "hey, what are those? are those all the cards I've given you??" Hehehe. We bought him a big box to put them all in when Christmas clearance came around. :)
