thankfulness

happy thanksgiving to my american buds ... may God show you something special that you can be thankful for, something you may not have thought of before ...

i'm thankful for home and the land i call home ... canada is a real melting pot of different languages, races, ideas - yet somehow it is still working ... i pray that will continue ...

i was in the city on sunday/monday ... another appointment with the glaucoma specialist ... my eyes are still borderline high (re the pressure in them), but he says there is no damage and all looks well at the back ... he'll see me again in the spring and treat the eyes if the pressure changes ... this is all a new experience for me - yet i still feel thankful ... thankful for the doctor ... for my eyes, that they are still "fine" and thankful for my friends and family who provide a place for me to stay and also rides to the doctor (in case they dilate the eyes) ... i am continually humbled by the love, support and prayer on my behalf ...

sometimes thankfulness can be a sacrifice - like the psalm says, but if we make the sacrifice - i believe our God is pleased ...

Oh Saija, I just left you a comment and because I wasn't signed in Blogger ate it. I have steam coming out of my ears. Well, it feels like it. I have a Charlie Brown frown anyway!

Thanks for being glad with us about Natty. You know I'm sure how painful it is to lose a beloved pet. It was just like God to take care of her like that. Such a good ending to her experience it could only have been God!

I can identify with what you said about 'sometimes thankfulness can be a sacrifice'. Once when Mom suffered a stroke, I was alone at the hospital and so shaken up. I found a deserted hallway and was praying and reading the psalms and God gave me this comfort....'Let my prayer be set before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.' Psalms 141:2 Same as you said, right?

I hope you have a blessed week! I am thankful for many things and I am blessed to have known you as blogging friend and sister in Christ. *hugs* =)

Dear Saija,
I'm thankful that your eyes are still working. I'm also thankful for my own poor, but oh, so important eyesight.
I thought you had had a successful operation, and that those problems were dealt with.
Maybe it's for the good that you get to come out with friends sometimes, even if there's a certain fear connected to it. Hope you make the most of your trips and find some inspiration as well.
I also wish Leo and the cat a happy belated Thanksgiving. (Yours was last weekend if I'm not wrong).
I was in Sauda with Gunnar and my mother last weekend, and we really have lots to be thankful about.
My mother was to go to a day care centre Monday morning, and I was lying awake all night, figuring out all the obstacles that might ruin her day. I turned on the light in the middle of the night and read words I had written on the wall when I was a worried teenager. "Never will I leave you, nor will I forsake you. Signed God."
I slept like a baby after reading, and my mother had a joyful day.
God is there, all the time.
Of that I am truly thankful.

Thanks, Saija. We have so very much to be thankful for, and so much learn about gratitude, and what our expectations ought to be. I know I have missed so many of God's blessings because I was looking for something else rather than being thankful for what God has given. Praying your eyes continue to be healthy! Joyce

Dear Saija .. thank you for the Thanksgiving sentiments. After watching the news tonight (Friday) and seeing how poorly people behaved at the thought of buying something at a great discount, I am thankful that I don't shop on Black Friday .. am content at home .. value family more than 'cheap stuff' .. The depravity of man .. sometimes it's pathetic.

I do hope and pray that your eye pressure stays under control.

Blessings to you and Leo.
