fish out of water

Image hosting by TinyPic

today was a shopping day ... i actually ventured out of the area to do some REAL buying ... i hadn't done that since late November! duh? do i get out much?

along the way i noticed all the ice-fishing huts on the frozen river ... clustered close together with smoke coming out of some chimneys ... cars or trucks parked outside the huts ... just like driving on the river was something that was normal ... ? ... i don't feel comfortable doing that! it just feels wrong for some reason ...

at the moment, i am feeling like a fish out of water ... i think it's because some of my "stuff" is still in boxes, instead of in plain view ... little scripture verses that i like to have around ... hymnals ... i haven't hooked up my speakers to the computer yet, so can't play my music while i type ... and i am making do with a wee little table for my computer because i gave away my corner desk ...

yup, like fish out of water ...

not that it's a bad thing - i just need to get comfortable with my set-up ... and maybe break down and unpack a few more items ... *smile* ...

i think it is good when we leave the known and familiar to forge ahead into the unknown ...

just a few loose thoughts this friday evening ...

Ah, moving...yep, one of the troubles I have is finding things...when you move fairly often, at least at our age, it is difficult to always remember WHERE things are...

Hope you get settled in ere long...it just takes some time, it seems. In fact, I have not TOTALLY unpacked in 5 years (3 moves)...sometimes I forage in some boxes and close them up again...time to PARE DOWN...if I have managed this long...probably won't be needing them....sigh...it is hard to get rid of something that MAY be useful later....

elizabeth ... i know what you mean ... leo is more like that then me ... i tend to forget what i have, if it's not around me - therefore, i need less stuff! make sense? *laughing* ... and that is exactly what i've been doing, foraging through some boxes ... but i DO think i need some of my scripture verses around and also MUSIC ... ((hugs))

ah yes, GOOD music and scripture is needful! Necessary!! Have a good weekend...we are meeting up with our kids who live an hour away...at another spot today...3 hours from us both...to enjoy a Messianic service together. So it should be a busy but fun day, with helping with the 3 small children and all...plus meeting some new folks too.

Sending you a BIG hug! You've climbed over a mountain and I pray that God gives you green pastures and pleasant days in your new home and community. We've always thought that every town has things that make it special...bargain outlets or cultural things, or historic. I wondor what neat things you will discover...perhaps? I enjoyed your description of the fishing huts on the ice. Of course we would never see anything like that here...smile. Did you ever watch the Avonlea series? they were produced by the Anne of Green Gables series producers. I can't think of thier names just now. Anyway, I loved Jasper and Olivia. Jasper went out ice-fishing and did some life guard work that episode, remember? I love that whole series, the kids got it for me on dvd last Christmas. Well, I'd better get moving. I hope your day is pleasant as can be!

I think that is the one thing I always dreaded when moving, the unpacking. After all that time getting everything just the way you wanted it you have to pack it all up and then start it all over again.

Wow. You did it! Hopefully home will start to feel like "home." We moved last March and unpacked within 2 months or so, but I would say that just in the last 2 weeks I've started to realize that THIS is OUR home. It's good to be home...

elizabeth ... hope you had a wonderful time!

maggie ann ... i did watch some of the Avonlea series (one of CBC's better productions!) ... and it's nice to see you popping by - hope your computers woe's have come to an end!

Ed ... i'm itching to unpack, but since we are actively looking to buy - well i don't want to yet!!! though someone told me that as soon as i unpack - then we WILL find something to buy ... murphy's law!

tonya ... yup the Lord had it all prearranged - i shouldn't have wasted time worrying at all!!! and as i mentioned to Ed, the unpacking is being left undone on purpose ... hopefully one more move in our near future!!! what a thing to wish for eh? ... i'm glad you are all settled in to your home now! blessings ...

Yep we sure did...one delight was holding my only granddaughter, 14 months while she "sang along" with the music and shook a child sized tambourine!! Fun!! Hope you are staying warm tonight and don't work too hard...the work ALWAYS waits!!

laughing at the driving on lakes and rivers .. I'm a scaredy cat too. But skiing on the frozen lake last week was great. Go figure!
As for being a fish out of water. That's me too!

be blessed

lorna ... i only walk on the frozen rivers after the ice is 2 feet deep! i don't know why these guys have to drive their trucks on the ice - i think they are allergic to exercise! *shaking head, chuckling*
