the river is flowing ...

just a little glimpse into my world ...

yesterday i had my first outdoor sauna of the season! YAY! ... there was just a bit of ice on the river ... it was clinging stubbornly to the shoreline ... i definitely didn't go for a swim!

the wood smoke curled from the chimney ... the sun shone warmly ... and little ole me enjoyed sitting on those old wooden benches, sweating away my cares ...

afterwards my aunt made a big meal which 31 of us enjoyed to the fullest ... *smile* ...

hope you had a "good friday" as well ...

Wow...sounds like a good day! A good meal spent with lots of others, how fun! We had 9 of us to share a meal on Wednesday here...tis fun though lots of work to prepare! They all helped though too which made it easier!

Are you sure you're a real Finlander? According to my source you should be happy to jump off that dock and crack through the ice after your sauna.

And is it true that people from Finland prefer to be called Finlanders rather than Finns. Inquiring minds want to know.

Have a blessed Easter, you and Leo!

Hi Sabrina!

We Finns want to be called Finns not Finlanders.

We really like swimming in winter time but I guess there aren't people crazy enough even here in Finland to jump through the ice... :)

Few kilometers from our home there is outdoors recreation center that has an open pool (25 meters long) in the lake all through the year. It's so much fun to watch them go to swimming while there is snow on the ground and the lake is on ice. They have special shoes and gloves. Shoes for being able to walk on the snow and the gloves in order to pull themselves up from the water (ladders are medal).

I envy you Saija!

It's so long since I've been in outdoors sauna. I love doing sauna and swimming. The lakes are still on ice here but hopefully I will be able to leave my winter coat eli jättää talviturkkini to the lake early in May.
