the cold, the song, the chocolate bar ... and other chitchat

our extreme cold conditions continue ... though we try to console ourselves with the fact that edmonton, alberta was -46C, while we were "only" -30C ... everything is relative!

with the cold temps, i went online to check out housing prices in our canadian far south (on lake erie) ... i also checked the weather in that area - a balmy 7C ... ? ... leo and i will have to do a comparative list of why we want to live in extreme cold weather, compared to the banana belt ... it was a nice way to spend a frigid afternoon, dreaming of possibilities ...

my family in finland has sent us little treats inside their Christmas greetings ... today we received a card with an old finnish Christmas carol cd ...

and chocolate ... i just love chocolate ... the finnish faser chocolate to be exact ... i just couldn't help nibbling on a holiday special filled with cinnamon, apple, cherry ... it was yummy ... in the new year i will have to get back to a more cholesterol friendly diet!  but not in december - i will enjoy (as you can see from this almost empty choco bar!!)

that's what i've been up to during these colds days ... but i DO have plans for baking pies ... and watching some Christmas movies ... and visiting ... i want to continue my telephone visiting, plus real life visiting too ... i have quit the hustle and bustle and just relaxed ... i love when that happens ...

blessings on your week!!!

Dear Saija,
You have a rare gift for counting stars under the dark sky.
My mother always would say that the Lord so wisely let white snow cover the landscape in the darkest season of the year.
Here by the coast we don't have much snow, even though the days are growing shorter all the way till December 21st.
I love the video of you and Kitty.
You have just the soft, mild voice I'd expect you to.

Brrrr! You make me cold just reading this. I had to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit to get an idea, and it told me it was very cold!
Enjoy that chocolate!

I cannot imagine how cold -30 is... I'm happy with 24 degrees here, and for that I have to put on a sweater.

Love the casual way you write you posts. So relaxed, makes me feel so welcome into your life!

Enjoy the rest of your cold days.

Right now we have the right mixture of gentle breeze to windy, dry, cool at night, pleasantly warm during the day, and slight drizzle off and on during the day, and an occasional downpour in the evening. Perfect December weather!

I wish we had a fireplace. I love the atmosphere they generate in winter. We have had lows here in central Alberta that dipped to -35C. Wind too. Brrrr ...

Oh, Dear, I don't see how you can stand that cold! Love your pretty card and the gift of chocolate ~ I can't have it anymore because of the caffeine. I'm glad you are feeling better. Love and Hugs ~ Oh, and I also love your new header.

Wow, that is very cold (I just checked a temp converter:( And thinking about it gives me the chills.. You must think we are wimps for thinking 0 degrees is cold ;) I can see how that would seem balmy to you. Your condo must be a cozy spot to hang out and bake pies, plan 'moves', watch the seasons change, etc.

Merry Christmas, my northern friend.

The picture of you in your fur trimmed hood says a lot! My coat is similar but the temps here are much warmer! That chocolate sounds soooo yummy. Enjoy for me too ok? Are you thinking of moving to the 'banana belt? I love Christmas movies...but last night I chose an animated, Charlotte's Web.
