doomsday clock ...

i see they changed the doomsday clock today ... the scientists who take care of it, moved it two minutes closer to midnight ... the official reading is "five minutes to midnight" ... apparently global warming was added to the mix ... along with the nuclear threat ...

i'm so glad that my life and times are in God's hands ... there are no surprises to the Creator of the Universe ... He knows ... yes, He knows ...

Huh, I've never heard of the doomsday clock. I didn't know they could predict those types of things. Heh. or think they could. Like you said, my God knows better than they do. :)

Scripture does give us clues, as to certain events that must occur first and we know that HE promises to be with us...through whatever befalls us!! We cannot ask for more! But time goes on and we grow ever closer to that day!!

Diane ... i like to keep it short & sweet - well, maybe the topic isn't sweet - but our Heavenly Father's encouragement is! blessings on your day!

jammie girl ... :o) ... check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_clock ... and you'll see wikipedia's def on it ... i grew up knowing about the clock - so i must have read about it or heard it at school? ... it's purpose is? um, maybe to scare the pants off people? which if they don't know the Lord - may be a good thing!!

maggie ann ... well since you are still such a young 'un, being up late is still ok ... best next year - well, that's a different story! *grin*

elizabeth ... i agree- we are given signs, like watching a woman in her 9th month of pregnancy ... we don't know the exact date - just that it's soon ...

tina ... yes, i would rather trust in Him & His knowing - then the guesses of all the wise men on earth put together ... and - i hope you are healing up!

I was in the dark about what a doomsday clock was/is. Today's paper had an article about it ... Glad He knows all things.

mindy ... i like being in the amen corner ... :o) ...

mrs. mac ... i've always watched the doomsday clock - seems all my life ... then once i accepted Christ, the clock didn't hold it's terror - because i knew that God held my future ...

Praise God we don't need to worry about what the future holds because we know WHO holds the future!

I saw that article last night and it just made me sigh and shake my head. I was encouraged to read that it's actually been *closer* to midnight in the past (I think they said the closest it's been was three minutes to midnight), and that they do move it backwards when the occasion calls for it.

linda ... amen ... otherwise i think my knees would be knocking!

catherine ... it's sort of a goulish past time, isn't it? but i think the purpose behind it is to make folks realize that earth is fragile - i really think some world leaders have blinders on!

"It may be at morn, when the day is awaking,
When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking
That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory
To receive from the world "His own".

It may be a midday, it may be at twighlight,
It may be perchance, that the blackness of midnight
Will burst into light in the blaze of His glory,
When Jesus receives "His own".

While its hosts cry Hosanna, from Heavin descending,
With glorified saints and the angels attending
With grace on His brow, like a halo of glory,
Will Jesus receive "His own".

Oh, joy! oh, delight! should we go without dying,
No sickness, no sadness, no dread and no crying.
Caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory
When Jesus receives "His own".

O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song,
Christ returneth! Halleujah!
Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.

...Love Terry

terry ... "O Lord Jesus, how long, how long?" ... but once He has come, time will have seemed like only a twinkling of the eye ...

Yes, I think it is meant as a wake-up call. They should publicize it more, actually. Maybe more people would start to behave. :)

catherine ... i was surprised with how many folks hadn't heard of it ... but i'm sort of geeky and a newshound - so this has been in my subconscience forever ...
