rain

it was a rainy day today ... and foggy ... and warm ... and restful! leo and i had a nice morning together, then watched a movie in the afternoon ... of course the evening was for hockey night in Canada (for leo anyway!) ...

i am starting to get excited about my summer off ... it is amazing how tiring work can be - i must admit to a bit of aging happening ... ? ... go figure eh!

each day seems to bring another confirmation of my decision to "retire" from the salt mines in the park ... i love it when God speaks to a listening heart ... and His peace settles any last doubts ...

the pics i've posted are just ones i snapped today ... flowers by our garage ... and the view from our front window ... serene, eh? i am counting my blessings - day by day and minute by minute! ...

"If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds." Matthew 6:25-26 (the message)

A thankful heart indeed. Your view is so lovely. I'm glad He is filling you with peace regarding your retirement. I'm starting to get excited myself. I'm wishing I had less time but July is around the corner.
I can sense that you are being filled with that peace that passes understanding - How Wonderful!!

Dear friend, I'm glad for you to hear you are leaning toward taking a retirement...more time to rest and enjoy things.. I tire so easily, always have and now its worse due to age (have to admit it). Thank you for the lovely comment you left me about my collages. You have such sweet wisdom, we were both impressed and it takes a lot to get my hubby's attention....grin. If I really really love it I WILL keep it....thank you..and *hugs* to you. What is that hanging flower by your garage, I haven't seen that before its very pretty!

terry ... i liked the part about not being tied down to a job description and being free like an unfettered bird ... :o) ... blessings on your day!

pat ... i know what you mean re wanting the job to be done - once the decision is made ... i am like that too ... i did give them over a month notice - but i am chomping at the bit too! :o)

debra ... yes, it feels like a whole new world with the thought of a summer off!!! joy joy joy ... too bad we aren't closer, we could go for walks, now that your house is ready to be put on the market, and you have time!!

maggie ann ... i've noticed the tiring easily part the last few years too ... i get rested up, then it's time to go to work - my body doesn't appreciate me for that! leo was just saying today how i have enough to do here at home - and he is so glad that soon i'll be here with him ... me too! ... and i'm glad my "outsiders observation" gave you a different insight re the collages ... the flowers are petunias - as jeanette reminded me, i am so forgetful with names!!! blessings backatcha!

My Bleeding Hearts are in bloom now, too (I think maybe that's the flower Maggie Ann didn't recognize?). My grandchildren are fascinated with them. I gave them a chunk from mine and it's blooming at their house, too. There's a neat folklore-type story around the different parts of the Bleeding Heart, a story you can tell while taking a flower apart. I can't seem to enlarge your photo of the Bleeding Heart, to see what the other foliage coming up is. But it looks like somebody put some lovin' into your garden. You get a view of the lake from your window? Wow! I think you're going to love not going to work in the summer.

sabine ... *laughing*, yes that must be what maggie ann was asking - my mind was in the last post! ... and yes, the former owner planted some lovely flowers ... let's see if i can keep from killing them! maybe i will develop a green thumb? maybe?

Funny you should talk about having a thankful heart...I brought that up to my mom and siblings the other day. There's been so much complaining and misery lately, partly because of my dad's long hours at work. Thank you for the reminder to be joyful.

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
Ps 32:11

Dear Saija...we are going to hear the faintest whisper of the prairies today.
