chit chat from the land of ice and snow

some scenes from my wintery world ... i took these photos the other day ... on my walk ... can you just see the crowds of people? *grin* ... pretty quiet, isn't it? the kids are back at school and the parents are back to their daily routines ... the weather has been mild (due to change tonight tho', -30C), so i've taken advantage of it and just enjoyed my little town ...

2008 has had a quiet start ... leo started reading through the bible this year (by himself) ... i did that in 2007, so this is my year to pick a book and try to study it in more depth ... i am starting with Revelations ... it has always intrigued me ...

the library is still fun ... i enjoy my part time hours ... tho' i must admit to being tired on the weeks i work 3 days - what a wimp, eh?!!! i still feel young, tho' my body gets tired a little faster, reminding me of my own mortality ... i mean, my 54th birthday is just around the corner - i think i will turn those numbers around and make it 45 ... *smile* ... maybe that'll give me more energy? do you think?

just a little "hello" post ... and blessings on ya for the week to come!

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." ~Jesus (Matthew 6:19-21)

Those are really pretty pictures. I like the quiet and lack of crowds. It makes for the best walks I think. Glad you are still enjoying your work. Revelations would be an interesting study!

Wonderful pictures, Saija, but not my kind of weather, as you know. That's great Leo is reading the Bible through. His Word is medicine to our bones, I believe the Word says. And the Word also says we will be blessed by reading Revelation.
You are not a "wimp" - working is just hard.

Blessings~

Your posts never cease to inspire me. You put so much feeling in a few words...you have a true ministry.
Isn't it something how much each year takes a little more energy from us? That's the one part of growing old I could do without, but like you said, it does serve to remind us of our own mortality - and allows us to draw closer to the Lord. His plans are all good.

As always you take the prettiest of pictures!! Your area is gorgeous!! I need to do this and take more pictures of where we live. I am so glad that Leo is doing well in this new year. You are still very young...Now my next birthday next month I am going to be 63 and it is not 36...that would make me younger than my children..smile. Sandy

Oh saija, You are such an infant, I have several years on you, but still feel young in my heart & most days body. Good for Leo's bible challenge & to you as you delve into revelations..
Lovely pics I like the quiet as well.

You have a gift for photography...I love seeing your 'art'. So you have a birthday coming up soon...mine is almost here....I turn the big 60 (tomorrow) and thank the Lord he's given me so many years, though they are flying by! I get tired quickly lots of times. I'm good for a couple of hours before I wind down. Better run, I'm determined to get to bed earlier tonight. I'm trying to recover from a nasty headcold. *hugs*

We're studying Revelation in our ABF at church. We're using Eugene Peterson's (The Message) book "Reversed Thunder." It's well done and an interesting read.
