... politics!

while the U.S. vice presidential debate was on last night, we had our own debate on tv, here in canada ... the candidates for prime minister ... all 5 of them (4 men and one woman ... and just an FYI, we have already had a woman prime minister about 15 years ago) ... it was a round table format ... i checked out both debates ...

to be honest - i don't care for debates ... i guess because i don't like arguments ... i like discussions ...

then there are the spin masters afterwards ... twisting whatever was said to represent the view they want the masses (us) to believe ...

there really are no unbiased reporters out there ... lets face it, we ALL have our opinions ... which make it difficult to see clearly ... or report accurately ...

i will be so glad when our elections (14th) and our neighbours elections are done, then hopefully the solutions for pressing problems will be the #1 concern for our elected members ...

Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long,
has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

I watched some of our debate last night, but like you I do get tired of the news media explaining to us what was said. I think I'm smart enough to figure that out myself! I'll be glad when the elections are done too. You guys do it better than we do I think - it's not so long!

I watched our debate last night, Saija, and thought Gov Palin won. If you don't watch the Fox News Channel, you will see media that clearly favors Obama. I hope your election turns out well, the way you want it to.

I'm with you, Saija...the media highlights whatever they want to according to their editor's or owner's bias...really..it is good to know that it is God who places rulers...blessings,

Yes! Amen...amen...amen and ditto everything you said. I could have written this post (except the Canadian part) :)...I so do not like debates or arguments and will turn the tv station if I see/hear one. Isn't Life stressful enough already? Thanks for letting me I'm not alone! Hugs, Debra

Dear Saija,
media is all about scandals and headings in huge fonts.
It is degrading. Also devastating how presumably well educated adults address each other with the implication that the opponent is a criminal.
Not a patriotic way to build a nation.
I don't understand anything about the real issues in this campaign, just disappointing that the non issues are so highlighted.
Then again; the non spoken of may be known the every man on the American continent, just not across the sea.

May the Lord place in office the best candidate - obviously man doesn't have any sense about choosing!

I don't typically watch the debates because they're so busy trying to sound eloquent and impressive that they forget to say anything of substance.

we are all so fortunate to have the media.(NOT)..so they can tell us what we have just seen and heard...

because of course we are all to stupid to know and understand for ourselves what we have just seen and heard...

I hope in Canada the news media gives you more credit for having common sense

I agree with what you wrote. I too wish it were all over. I didn't watch the VP debate either. It seems like the media is just waiting for someone to make a mistake. They are just chomping at the bit to see someone make a human error. I personally can't handle the pressure just watching it. I want them both to do their best. Anyway, it will all be over soon. (I hope!)

Elections? What elections!!!

*tee hee*

I don't watch any of it. Unfortunately, though, it's kind of hard to miss it when the radio talks about it and the Internet has blaring headlines about it. Mostly I just roll my eyes at the theatrics of it all. Because that's exactly what it is.
