what a weird summer all over our north american continent, eh ? !!! my west coast sister is broiling in the heat ... and our usually hot prairies are soggy, cool and rainy ... ? ... i guess it's a sign of age that that though i'm not loving the excessive rain, i know i can't change a thing about it! so i'm going with the flow ...
the inner me is another story ... now there's a place that continually needs help ... really! there are spots which need a good spit and polish ... and other places that faith needs to build up, and grow in ...
with that in mind, here are a few good thoughts from recent Streams in the Desert readings ... hope they bless your heart like they blessed mine!
"Never pray for an easier life - - - pray to be a stronger person!
Never pray for tasks equal to your power - - pray for power equal to your tasks.
Then doing your work will be no miracle - - you will be the miracle."
~Phillips Brooks
"God will make our obstacles serve His purposes. We all have mountains in our lives, and often they are people and things that threaten to block the progress of our spiritual life. ... often we pray for their removal, for we tend to think that if only these were removed, we would live a more tender, pure, and holy life. ... These are the very conditions we need for achievements and they have been put in our lives as the means of producing the gifts and qualities for which we have been praying so long. ... The only way genuine patience can be acquired is by enduring the very trials that seem so unbearable today. ... Turn from your running and submit. ... Claim by faith to be a partaker in the patience of Jesus and face your trials in Him. ... "
~F.B. Meyer
".. you can trust the Man who died for you. You can trust Him to thwart each plan that should be stopped and to complete each one that results in His greatest glory and your highest good. You can trust Him to lead you down the path that is the very best in this world for you."
~J.H.M.

We were discussing our crazy weather here today. It's been cool all summer. We keep having days that it looks like it will rain all day, but then the sun comes out. We had a day like that today. We do learn to take it in stride better, as we get older though!
I too need the inner spit and polish quite frequently!
Hey Saija,
We've had about 3 hot days since June, and it is August already!
Those quotes are timely and go with what God is constantly teaching me...spitting and polishing...ouch and wow moments..
take care,
Love, Sita
I appreciate the wonderful quotes you share with us, Saija. Wish you were close....I would love to meet you :o)

I was at work tonight when I read you post and did not have my "Streams In The Desert" with me so I really enjoyed reading this post!
We are having our usual weather here in the south, hot, dry and humid. Thankfully, no hurricane threats yet!
Dear Saija,
As I read Paul's word came to me,
" By God's grace we are who we are, that is grace over grace."
(Norwegian simultaneous translation).
His grace is new every day, is another quote.
Were it not so, I certainly wouldn't have lasted for long.
My best advise?
Running barefoot in the grass.
Makes one feel so vibrantly alive, catching the small moments of joy.
Hugs from felisol
We are having a peach of a summer weather wise...we could use some of that extra rain you are having though. Yesterday we weeded our garden and were so pleased to see it appear once the weeds were pulled. I loved your post, once again.....I am blessed. Thank you for being you and for blogging! Last week I didn't blog...I sewed a skirt, had a fabulous time yard-sale-ing. My son took me and we got some fun things. Then we went to a new candy store that opened up in a close by charming little town. I had a cup of chocolate/cherry coffe and a red licorice stick...I don't remember what he got...isn't that selfish of me?!! He did get some favorite cookies across the street...do remember that! I've redeemed myself a little eh? *Hugs*
It is so hot here today, 92, or it feels like hotter. My cats won't come in. Thanks for that post. I really liked the last quote. Love and Hugs, Cathy
Great quote. We do indeed have crazy weather. Hope Mexico is nice and not having a typhoon when we are there.
