christmas is still christmas ....

we have definitely downsized our life here at the condo ...  we also downsized our christmas decorating and even our christmas tree ... check out the baby one we have been using.

but don't feel too badly for us ... once upon a time we had over the top celebrations ... and over the top christmas trees - like this very first tree in the very first house we owned ... what fun we had trying to get the tree inside the house through the regular sized door!!!  there were pine needles all over the living room!!!  we called 2 of our burly neighbours over to help us lift it up ... we were able to nail supporting wires into the floor to keep it upright, since our flooring wasn't done yet ... our cats loved to lie under it's boughs and we were the most popular country home around for the kids!  they couldn't believe the size of the tree ... and indoors!

christmas's change ... and the size of our trees has changed too ... *smiling* ... but i can honestly say that each year my heart celebration grows and grows ... as long as i stay focused on the WORD that became flesh and  dwelt among us - my christmas spirit remains sweet ...

whatever stage you are at in your life ... i hope the JOY of this season ... and the wonder of it all ... brings that childlike excitement into your life!  Glory to God!

That is one huge tree! Our first tree was large too and also left pine needles all over when we tried to push it through a doorway.

Love the little tree, we have one just like it! :)

it's not what's under the tree, but what's in your heart that makes christmas, any way! :)

hear that on a song that i'm listening too.

That is a mamoth tree. I love it. But I like the wee one too. I would love to have a tiny little tree, but Nelson isn't ready to go there yet. He's still got a hefty dose of little boy wonder in him. It's one of his more endearing qualities. Enjoy and be joyful!

Dear Saija,
I love your childlike trees whether they are grand or small.
I've actually never seen a tree as big as yours indoors.
Seems like your decorating style is Finish wherever you live. That first house of yours looked so very Scandinavian.
You must have loved it , putting down so much work to build it.
Then you needed the condo, and God provided that for you too.
He is faithful, and he walks with you and he talks with you all the time. I guess at the end of the day, that is what really counts.

Thanks for sharing those pretty pictures. I just have little trees now too. With my cat, I have to be careful with decorations. And he has taken over my window in the living room. The decorations on the side seem to scare him. :) Hugs ~

I like small trees too.

Christmas is still Christmas...but in a deeper and better way. We may give a sigh in rememberance of how things were, but better then that we give praise for the today we have. Some how, as fantastic..and it is fantastic...as that giant tree is, I see "the reason for the season" more clearly in your tiny tree.
Maybe I no longer look through a glass darkly.
hugs xoxo

That is one huge tree! Our celebrations do change over time, but the focus on Christ should only grow sweeter, as you have so well said.

"The Word became flesh" - which is enough to contemplate all year round!

Wow, what a big beautiful tree! But your small one has its advantages too. We now go with an artificial tree and J has all the decorations for it in boxes on the shelf just inside the front door closet. She has made life at Christmas so much easier!

Your beautiful Christmas card is here and we are enjoying it so much! Thanks dear friend! We are in the process of getting our picture cards from Sam's Club or Walmart and you are on the top of my list. =)

I misplaced my ipod and have been searching high and low for it. That is my 'mission' this morning to find it. Well, it was my mission last night also and nothing turned up. .... Warmest wishes to you and Leo for a cozy, & Blessed Christmas!

We have a little table top tree that is just lovely. But I marvel at how even an artificial tree loses needles! From one condo owner to another, "Have yourself a merry little Christmas!"

Great post! Everything for Tom and me has changed, too, and probably years ago we would have felt sorry for us! :) But now? Now we love everything about our lives. It's amazing how God can change our attitudes when we want only what comes from Him. Oh, and I love your litle tree--I've been wanting to find one just like it! Hugs, Debra
