quotes on prayer

artwork by C. Michael Dudash

Some people pray just to pray and some people pray to know God.
--Andrew Murray

Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan

--John Bunyan

Those who know God the best are the richest and most powerful in prayer. Little acquaintance with God, and strangeness and coldness to Him, make prayer a rare and feeble thing.

--E. M. Bounds

There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful than that of a continual conversation with God.

--Brother Lawrence

Amen, seems to be the appropriate response.

I love Andrew Murray's quote and definitely want to belong to the second group don't you?

Laughed at the Fazer comment on my blog Saija ... isn't it funny the things we are homesick for ? For me it's probably publunches - not that I had them very often back in the UK but I like people watching and publunches used to be inexpensive and a treat ... oh and I miss fish and chips though truth be told we didn't do that very often either!

Be blessed. Loved the pic of the finches

lorna ... fish 'n chips english style is soooo good ... you can get it wrapped in newsprint in Victoria or some places in Toronto ... mmmmm ... but the finn chocolate is really the best - i DO miss it!!! blessings on your weekend!

Can I add one? Thomas Merton: "How I pray is Breathe."
I love that. I love yours too!

If we could get into the groove of what Brother Lawrence says and stay there, what a good thing that would be.

Dear Saija, I love this post. It grabbed my attention...and my heart. Glad you liked the skirt I sewed. I would never make a short short skirt...I will make some more of these though...as soon as I can tear myself away reading Francine Rivers books...grin.

I was reminded to pray by my boss today. I feel so blessed to work at a place where we freely talk about God. Amazing.

Thanks, dear, for your reminders, too.

(hugs)

Great quotes. As I'm driving to Disney today, I'll be thinking about some of these.

Have a great weekend!

I love George Muller!
His stuff has impacted me in such a deep way, I don’t think I even understand it. I have read most of his books and have been so encouraged by his personal walk with Jesus. He was something special.

I am a musician and GM has inspired many of my songs. I would be honored if you would check out my music on my site. All my music is free for download. Anyway, I just thought that I’d share.

Thanks,
-Sean

Dear Saija..This lady looks like my mother. She is always praying for her eight kids and 26 nieces and nephews and all of her relatives and for my dad. She has been a really good example to us children. She is 76 years old now. Whenever Bernie and I and Betty go to a concert she always prays for our safety and she expects a phone call when we get home no matter how late it is!I sure do hope she prays for us as we board that plane for out west. I find it a little scary!!
Ha!! And yet Bernie and I went out west five times by motorcylcle, twice to the mountains!...Love Terry

terry ... having a praying mom is a HUGE BLESSING! my mom spends 50/50 praying/worrying/praying ... i hope that in the end, praying will win over her worrying! ... and you should be out here in the middle of wheat fields and steamy summer heat ... i hope you are having a blast!
