just a little story for you ...
on our honeymoon, safe in the new bubble of love ... eyes only for each other ... we always teased about how long we'd been married ... driving back to begin our life as "mr & mrs" - having stopped for the night - we were enjoying a romantic supper at some forgotten restaurant ... again, we were staring at each other and holding up our shiny new wedding bands remarking how we had been married for 2 whole weeks ... honestly, there must have been a newlywed glow around us - we didn't notice another soul in the place!!
that must have been why we were so surprised when a gentleman, with a definite british accent, all of a sudden materialized at our table ... he excused himself for interrupting our meal, but he said they couldn't help noticing we were newlyweds ... he wanted to wish us well and then he gave us a pound note ... he apologized for giving us money, but he said it was just a token of their good wishes - he hoped that we would be as happy in our marriage - as he and his wife were in theirs ...
we still have that pound note in our wedding album ... leo and i both always smile when we look at it ... it was a sweet gesture that has remained a lovely memory from our honeymoon - 32 years ago ...

What a lovely thing for the gentleman to do!
At our wedding, an older gentleman wrote down on our wedding program the exact time (hours, minutes and seconds) when we were pronounced husband and wife. He handed it to us in the reception line. We really liked that, and have done it for the bride and groom at weddings we've gone to since then.
So is today your anniversary?
Happy Anniversary!! Isn't it funny NOW i mean how you look like little kids getting married? I know that Mike and my wedding pictures look like that now. Course we did not think that way then.
Congratualtions...It must be your anniversary!! I hope you have many, many more years together!! This is the way marriages are supposed to be...just like ours....almost 43 years now!! Wonderful!!
Sandy
ginger ... yes, today's our anniversary ... it will be low-key, but i did take the day off to just hang out with leo! ... and that was a cool thing of that older gentleman to do for you ... the lesson is to pass along a sweet kindness, isn't it? :o)
Sandy ... 43 years, eh? wow! that is cool ... so you well know that the going isn't always easy - but the blessings of sticking it out, can be sweet!
Congratulations Saija and Leo! I loved the sweet story you shared... Makes me want to watch out for newlyweds now wherever I go--I'd never thought of that before! God bless you both on your special day and for all the days and years to come... Debra
Dear Saija...Now what did you do that for?
Here I was perfectly happy to come home from work and NOW I am crying over that beautiful story!!! How touching! Love Terry

Happy 32nd anniversary, Saija and Leo! 1974 was a very good year. We were married just 2 months before you.
Happy Wedding Anniversary!! What a sweet post and picture! You were a beautiful bride!
debra ... thank you ... and yes, those little gestures can be important ... :o)
terry ... it used to make me sniffle too - glad i could clean out your tear ducts, but in a good way!
gayla ... thank you ... long marriages are nice in that we truly are family to each other - not just two people who happened to marry ...
jeanette ... it's been a sweet day so far ... nothing out of the ordinary, just nice to hang out together!
sabine ... and happy belated anniversary to you guys! i think '74 was a pretty good year too!
maggie ann ... thank you ... it's neat that every bride can be beautiful - probably the joy of the moment ...
What a testimony to unfailing love--in spite of all the things flung against you. May that sweet glow continue to encircle you and drift out to be a blessing to others.
tina ... that's what i keep asking the Lord, to make us a witness to others that "all things are possible" ... even our marriage staying intact through the rough patches! but you can relate, i know! blessings backatcha!
Happy Anniversary Saija!! God bless you both!!!
awww look at you two kids!
happy Anniversary!
mindy ... thank you ... another notch added to the old hitching post! :o)
mrsd ... ya, we were such babies, 20 & 21 ... we thought we knew it all ... now i feel like i know so little!
susie ... we'll i'm 5'2" and leo is 6' ... :o) ... ya, 32 is a LONG time! and i got married at 8 ... *chuckling*!
Congratulations!! A wonderful testimony of God's sustaining power in our lives!! Not many reach 32 today. We will be at 34 years in Oct. Another testimony of God's grace and that alone, that we are still together today. I was only 20 and he 22 when we married...I recommend waiting till one is a bit older and definitely having some premarital counseling...could have helped a lot I think.
elizabeth ... you are at the same stage in life as we are ... i was 20 when we got married, so we are the same age too! ... we were such babies when we got married ... i like to think that leo and i grew up together ...
Belated Happy Anniversary Wishes to Saija & Leo! S and I grew up together too . . . . learning a lot along the way, and still learning. :-)
dawn ... yes - learning still over here too!
What a lovely anniversary memory.

Take Care
Michael
