it seems that mrs deer had teenagers with her ... can you see them in the photo below? quite camoflaged by the fall colours!
i loved being in the big city ... but photos like these would be rare ... whereas in the country, they are almost common place!
nature is a gift from God ... it's everyday beauty and wonder - matchless ...
For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For the beauty of each hour,
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.
by Folliot Pierpoint (this hymn was used in the 1994 movie "Little Women")

I love the deer. They are so pretty and sweet looking. Maybe if I lived where they were nuisances I would feel differently, but it was such a treat when we were up in Yosemite to see so many of them.
Oh, it reminds me of the last wonderful spot we lived in prior to moving here...the deer would eat RIGHT NEXT to the windows in the house and let us watch FROM INSIDE only! Of course, any flowers were a tasty tidbit for them...but that is ok...it was worth it!
Oh Boy!! What a nice picture Saija!!
I don't think I have EVER seen so many deer together like this, although when we were in Rivers, Man., we DID see three little deer gliding acoss the road and down into the ditch and on to the purple flax field!!
Just lovely!!...Love Terry
Love the pictures. We live next to a conservation area, and I see one ever so often. But, they haven't posed for me yet. Lucky you!
jeanette ... i know they are a nuisances in some spots, but we just enjoy their visits here ... :o)
elizabeth ... i just feel bad that hunting season is starting soon ... though if these deer stay close to homes like ours - well they should survive! we just shoot with cameras ...
terry ... once when we were going to duluth, mn ... we literally saw over 250 deer within a 50 mile stretch of road - just amazing!
fred ... well folks know how i love to take pictures, maybe that news flash was broadcast on "deer tv" too ... :o)
for a while (about 13 years ago) I lived in the middle of Huron National Forest (northern Michigan) and saw deer by the dozens every single day. I thought nothing of it. I used to laugh at my mom when she came to visit me because she'd get all geeked about a deer. I'd say "only one?" so I took her down the road a bit and showed her the congregation of about 40 deer that hung out in a local field. That just about fried her brain.
anyway, now I live in the city. like, IN the CITY.... and once in a while I'll see a skunk or a raccoon, or a groundhog. We even have an occasional wild turkey (!!) that hangs out in our neighborhood.... and I get all geeked about it!! it's kind of funny!
OOOOHHH!!!! LOOK at the RACOON!!!
wow.....
:o)
k, i won't show my husband this!!!! LOL. hunting season is approaching...
Wow...it's always good to make new friends!
I love that hymn and your pictures. I'm surprised the deer stood still for you being close. She looks so graceful. We have lots of deer around our area...and its too common for them to run out in front of the car as we drive up the mountain to church...they are pretty! You are the only person I've visited tonight...just had to come over & 'see' you. *hugs*
cptnwow ... *laughing* ... i know what you mean ... hope all is well in "sam-land" ... :o)
mrsd ... yes, it is starting up soon ... there are tons of deer this year, that is what boosted the timberwolf population!
tina ... *grin*, you bet!
maggie ann ... i have a cold, so don't come too close ... :o) ... that is what i brought home from toronto!! cough cough, sniffle! it was lovely to see you here, now you get some rest!
That is so cool! I see the occasional deer even in the city, but I'd love to have them as regular visitors to my yard! Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos. :)
catherine ... they are lovely animals, aren't they! so graceful ... a joy to watch ...
They certainly are beautiful animals. I will never understand how some people can take pleasure in hunting them.
