fun with pictures

aww inspiration ... sometimes it can be fun!

we have so many "old faithful" wall hangings - i thought i could display most of them here at the condo ... but? well, some just didn't seem to suit the mood of the place ...

and ... i don't like bare walls ... yet ... i was at a loss as to how to fill the space ...

then inspiration hit ... and God smiled ...

i thought why not put some of my own pictures ... plus some postcards from my collection ... in frames ... see what happens ...

the arrangements i've posted were the result ... i know - they are amateur floral pictures and hokey caricatures - but they make me smile when i look at them ... they seem playful ... drawing joy out of the air ... with touches of simplicity ...

*grin* ...

if i can find the right frames (these were a bargain at $4.00 each) ... i might try other types of scenerios ...

yup - there is definitely something wonderful about being at an age when it doesn't matter if things are trés chic ... as long as they are trés fun!

Pictures must not be too picturesque. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Erm... is there something wrong with amateur floral pictures? *grin*

Those arrangements are great! Exactly as you said, drawing joy out of the air :)

By the way... those cards from Finland are really fun. I've been looking at them often, too. And I think I have a couple of them in my drawer, waiting for to be posted...

I clicked on your pictures to look more closely and I think they are just great!! If they please you and make you HAPPY who else should care..right? sandy

Very sweet! That reminds me - I still haven't fixed up those frames I bought at a garage sale last summer.

excellent idea, since lots of times postcards get thrown in drawers and forgotten about

the only difference between amateur and professional is the money. sometimes amateur is better... :)

eija ... i love the country folk postcards ... i even have 2 mugs with pictures and a book that someone sent me ... they are fun!

sandy ... yes, the pictures please me and make me happy ... so i wanted to share! maybe encourage another timid soul that it's ok to do whatever you want in your own place - never mind what designers might say!

sabine ... i will now be hunting for frames! i hope to find unique ones ... :o)

maggie ann ... why thank you ... you've always inspired me with your creative touches!

beanie ... that is where most of my postcards sit, safely in a drawer! ... maybe a collage would be nice?

j ... you've got a good point there! and did i ever tell you that one of my pics was put on a book cover, another in a national magazine and yet another on the front page of a local tv guide ... but as for $$ ... nada!

I love the florals... I might have to try that. :) You know "imitation is the highest form of flattery", right? Hugs to you and Leo.

Dear Saija...I hate bare walls too and these pictures are so nice and homey!
I think it was good idea on your part!

I find that I am going to have a lot of time on my hands, so maybe I will go through my old pictures and do the same.
Oh Saija!...I just have boxes and boxes of photos.
I should just take them over to my moms and kill two birds with one stone[ha! I wouldn't even kill a flea let alone a BIRD, but that is just an expression!].
The two things would be; I would have a nice visit wth my mom over a hot cup of tea,and at the same time she could go through those boxes for me and sort them all out!!
Her reward? Well I will just take her to Wendy's for a baked potato and a coffee.
My little mother is a very cheap date!

Take care Saija.
I have to do another posting soon and this time I am going to put my own ugly mug on it and Bernie's and my friend, Dragonfly Wings.
I must say that you are very poplular among the blogger set, Saija!!

Sabine sent me a nice picture of herself but I had to promise not to blog it!!
Hmm.... I wonder if a promise counts if it is a cyberspace one?
I wonder if she would let me email you a copy of it?
I will ask her. She is a real little cameo!

Good posting Saija...Love Terry
