country music ...

do you listen to country music?

i haven't in a while ... however, the radio at work is tuned to the country station, so i quickly got reaquainted with the sweetness of that genre ... one song in particular seemed to be playing constantly - especially as i prayed about my work situation - "should i quit, shouldn't i quit?" ...

you can hear the song by doing a search on
www.youtube.com ... the simple cowboy lyrics were relateable and comforting ... therefore, worthy of sharing with you, my blog buds!

"Me and God" by Josh Turner

There ain't nothing that can't be done
By me and God
Ain't nobody come in between me and God
One day we'll live together
Where the angels trod
Me and God

Early in the morning talking it over
Me and God
Late at night talking it over
Me and God
You could say we're like two peas in a pod
Me and God

He's my Father
He's my friend
The beginning
And the end
He rules the world
With a staff and rod
We're a team
Me and God

I am weak and he is strong
Me and God
He forgives me when I'm wrong
Me and God
He's the one I lean on When life gets hard
Me and God

He's my Father
He's my friend
The beginning
And the end
He rules the world
With a staff and rod
We're a team
Me and God

He rules the world
With a staff and rod
We're a team
Me and God
We're a team
Me and God

Dear Saija...What a GOOD song!
I DO like country music but my favorite is Southern Gospel Music.
I wonder how this song would sound if "Greater Vision" sung it?
Probably just SO good!!!

Saija, I was just at Glenys,
"Musings of a Chrisian Wife" and I thought of you while I read her post.
Go and see Saija...You will think of YOU too when you see it!...Love Terry

I like country music too. Well, some of it anyway. My daughter and her family were driving in their car recently, listening to country music on the radio. Afterwards, my 5-year-old granddaughter sat down to do her homeschooling and started to sing, "Sit down and have another beer..." They decided to get a CD player for their car, instead!

Like all music, country has its good and bad. I don't generally seek it out, but I heard this young man, Josh Turner singing on Good Morning America and I loved his voice so much I bought his CD with this song on it. I also rarely buy CD's, but I do love this one. His voice is pure and strong and I love this song!!

sonia ... i think our north american country music is a wee bit different from your south american songs - it is fun to share cross cultural ways ... blessings on your day!

heb 11:1 ... i'm glad that songs like this are still "acceptable" to the general public ... they are certainly uplifting, aren't they?

terry ... i did try to go over to her site, but had the www wrong - i guess i'll go check your sidebar, do you have her listed there?

sabine ... *smile, shake of head* ... yes, the country stations still have the cheat'n, drink'n, hurt'n songs playing ... i can see a young one picking up lyrics to a catchy tune!

pat ... he's a new artist to me, since i haven't been listening to country of late - i agree, he has a good voice & i like the old-fashioned values ...

jel ... seems to me i saw that son on youtube but didn't listen to it ... now, i'll have to check it out - thanks ...

I have to comment here again...
Last night I, like always, tuned into the local country music radio station every time the sports station carrying the Senators' game went to ad break. I heard one of my favorites right now. It's called "It's a long trip alone". I like to think of that song as inviting God's presence to be with us as we walk along, although I know it really is talking about a guy wanting a girl to walk with him...I always change around my favorite songs! "Long Black Train" is one of my sister's favorites, and I recommend it, too. My favorite is probably "Drugs or Jesus" (which is pretty sad I don't like another one more!), because it sounds just like my drug-infested neighborhood. I mean, if you came here, you'd never know it, and most of my neighbors live oblivious to it, but the youth prowling the streets at night say it all. That said, I highly recommend the country songs "Some People Change" and "The Impossible"...they give such hope!
Have a blessed day in the Lord!

heb 11:1 ... i went on youtube and listened to the long black train - wow! i hadn't heard it and they showed the video with it - really powerful i thought ... and i do that at times too, change the song to think of it in the spiritual sense ... as a bride, longing for her Bridegroom ... blessings on you too!

terry ... thanks terry!

Dear Saija,
I got hooked on country music when I spent several hours in the work shop with my cousin building bird houses. He had on positive country music, and I was hooked on country. I feally like all of Josh Turner's songs. A lot of country artists talk anout God like He is far away in heaven.Josh Turner makes God a part of every day life.
Many songs have a special meaning to me that dont even have any thing to do with what the song is really talking about.
