tv's, satellites and helpful neighbours

cartoon from www.weblogcartoons.com

Cartoon by Dave Walker

i saw this cartoon a while back ... it made me smile ... especially since we have downsized ...

and speaking of tv's (oh? were we? *chuckle*) ... our satellite reception was giving leo major problems this afternoon ... in fact, he was talking to the tekkies at our provider for over an hour! all they could conclude was that something was unplugged ... but leo had tried all the connections ... poor guy was just sweating when i got home, that type of bending behind tv sets isn't the best of positions for a guy with back problems! ...

when i got home, i looked at the actual dish perched on our roof ... then, compared it to our neighbours dish ... and sure enough, something was unhooked ...

our condo central is a 50+ place ... we are the "kids" here ... but our neighbours (some of whom are older then our parents!) have been so helpful and sweet ... they knew something was up when they saw leo going to the garage for a ladder ... our 85 year old neighbour rushed over to help carry the ladder for leo!! then our 70 something, other neighbour, stopped what he was doing to go climb up the ladder and snap this part back into place! and we had clear reception again! not only that, once this little community project was all finished, the sky opened up and it poured rain - but the job was done! :o) ... doesn't that make you smile? the sweetness of folks we really don't know, and their willingness to jump in there and help! Praise the Lord for kind-hearted neighbours ...

Kind hearted and young at heart!!

Can you get Southern Gospel stations with that satellite Saija?
We can't here in Ontario but one guy we know, bought his from the states and he gets it anytime he wants.
I used to envy him but now with 365live on the computer we can listen to it anytime we want!

Have a great weekend!..Love Terry

Just what is it about men and their tv's? Even when my nephew was only 9 months old, he wanted his own remote. lol

There is a Dutch expression that says: Better to have a good neighbor than a far-away friend.
I am thankful for the help your neighbors provided. God knows, maybe they become close (by) friends. :-)

Have a blessed weekend!

God's Grace.

terry ... yes, the men were much older then leo - but in better physical health! ... and our dish is a canadian one - sometimes we get bill gaither on one of the channels, but there isn't a dedicated southern gospel channel ... years back - with our BIG dish - we could get southern gospel ... you have a super duper long weekend too!

maggie ann ... awww, you probably can't see the bad in folks - you have such a golden heart ... :o) ... hope you had a wonderful time with your children!

sista cala ... i know! and with my poor sweetie, tv is his lifeline because of his disability ... so i'm ever so glad it is up & running!

corry ... and may we show the grace of God towards them ... they sure blessed my heart with their willingness to climb ladders! um, i didn't mention that i was up that ladder before any of the boys, but i was too short to reach that particular part!

This is what being a good neighbor is!! We try to do that here in our community. My poor hubby cannot climb ladders any longer. His knees are so so bad!! He does well to do the work that he does let alone try to climb a ladder. What grand neighbors. Sandy

Hi you! I was just over here and went home to my blog and saw you had just left a comment. We passed in the night...smile. Yes, we had a great visit. Our little man is a bundle of energy...in other words cute but exhausting at times. I miss him though. And his Mommy. Slowly we are getting rested up. We went out for supper tonight and did some grocery shopping. Drat those coupons! They take so much time to sift through...hubby is a dedicated coupon shopper though. Then we came home and he got me to give him a haircut....brave man..=)

That is a great story! I'm glad you had some help getting the job done. And I love the photos you've been posting of the scene around your condo. It looks like such a pretty, cozy place to live!
