first you double or triple all the clothes you have on underneath your coat ...
add a vest over the layers, for a little extra ...
a touque on your head is a must ...
lastly, secure a scarf around your face - the mummy look ...
then with only eyes showing, you are ready to head out the door ... which is a bit frozen and you have to tug on for a while before it finally opens ...
this is how i have been dressing for the past few days ...
with the windchill, it is a bone chilling 40 below ... brrrrrrr ... and ho ho ho !!!!
Winter is the time for comfort,
for good food and warmth,
for the touch of a friendly hand
and for a talk beside the fire:
it is the time for home.

I guess I can't complain! It's really cold here, but I don't know the wind chill. The temp is only 13 degrees though. Not near as bad as you 40 below!
75 (around 21, 22?) here in Tampa.
I'm surprised you can move with all those layers on!
I would not be going out unless it was an emergency!!

I don't think I would go out if I didn't have to.. -40 is AWFUL!!!! Keep warm and don't get frostbite..Smiles to you
OH my!! I am a Floridian by birth and have lived there most of my life; my blood is a bit thin for South Carolina and I get all happy about colder weather, but I think this is about as north as i can get....That is for Santa Clause!! Merry Christmas and stay by the cozy fireplace!!!
Hmmm, I wonder if my husband could get away with shorts and flip flops? :P I'll bet he'd try...
I love the title of your post, by the way, at first I was all that is NOT the way people aged 40-below dress. hehe
oh Saija, you are really 'well dressed" in thereLOL.
Out temp is in the 50s and 40s. But my Mom feels very cold.
Your picture reminds me of when my girls were small and I had to bundle them up to go shopping -then take most of it off when we got to the store! Thank goodness for good car heaters, huh? My legs always get the coldest now, and I'd just as soon stay indoors!
by the way, you look cute even with just your eyes showing!
lol, at the pictures. Bless your heart, that is terrible! I don't know how you stand it!
Yikes!!! And you look downright cheerful, too. ???
40 below is very very very cold....you remind me of past winteres here in upstate NY....hope you took advantage of "a talk beside the fire" after your outing....

wow!!
and we didn't even wear a sweater when we went out today...
looks like fun though...to be in all that snow...
I heard about the deep freeze in the west and thought "I wonder how our Manitoba Girl is doing?"
I hope it gets a little warmer!
Saija,
Under 40 degrees....brrrrrrrrr....but thanks for the tip....its arounf 8 degrees in Delhi, India, and I who am cold blooded, feel like dressing like you...LOL
Julia
Dear Saija,
I don't even have an idea what 40 below is. Only know the Celsius degrees.
I can see that a Nordic girl knows how to dress and still have a glimpse in her eye.
(I take it Leo took the pix.)
I see you have decorated for Christmas.
Looks nice.

I can't even imagine!!!!! 40 below! Good demo of how to dress though..and that jolly laugh at the end of your post...made me laugh. Merry Christmas!
-40 F and -40 C are the same temp. This is very cold and I think having your eyes exposed might give you a whopping headache ... Lovely coat, thanks for modeling your wear :) When are you supposed to warm up? Hugs,
Ah, I remember those 40 below days from when I lived in Moose Jaw. I dressed pretty much exactly like that, too, except I also wore ski pants over my regular pants. Your pics really bring back memories for me. :)
