40?

happy 40th birthday to my westcoast sister!!!!

she's a sweet funny soul, who cheers my heart with cute e-mails and pictures ...

i remember babysitting her, laughing at the way she would walk on her tiptoes - like a spritely little fairy - her hair all matted at the back because it was so fine ...

i remember encouraging her to pray as we were walking to church, and her 4 year old self only knew to shut her eyes, steeple her hands as she walked alongside me like that ... *fond smile* ...

i remember the tough teen years and early adult ones ... yet she came out at the other end with more steel in her back and faith in her heart ...

i remember the joy in my heart when her boyfriend became a believer before they married ... together they have lived their lives with faith and hope ... encouragers ...

i'm sad that she lives so far away ... yet i am grateful for e-mails, phonecalls, webcam visits ... and the occasional real live visits too ...

i miss you, my sweet sisko ... may God bless you with a wonderful birthday and a new decade filled with His Joy ...

Awww, it's nice that you have a good relationship with her, even though she's far away. Soooo, you just have to go visit her and then me! :P

Monterey/Carmel/Pacific Grove is about an 8 hour drive north of where we are. Beautiful area, I've spent some time up there in the past as my x's grandparents lived there. :)

mrsd ... aww, now i remember that ... hope it was a good day for you ... the weather has sure cooperated, eh?!!

debra ... yes, she is young ... the youngest of us kids is 30... so mom has 2 children who could be mine (33 being the other sisters age) ... as for the camera, i think i will use the auto feature for my vacation next week ... that way i won't mess up - and i'll play with features later on ... hope you have a restful weekend!

maggie ann ... i guess we have it easier than our parents and grandparents - re visits with loved ones that live a long way off ... just imagine the days when air travel was a true luxory and there were no webcams or cheap phone rates ... letters were from afar were treasured and reread many times ... hey - wait a minute! ... i remember those days quite well!!! does this make me officially old? ... *grin* ... blessings on your weekend!

catherine ... the weekend for you!!! you must be totally pooped out? ... hope all went well for your first week back at the salt mines! :o) ...
