family, homes and heaven

last thursday my aunt and i did the 4 hour plus drive to see my mom ... it was a most pleasureable day ... i love to listen to the stories about the old days ... i like to see how these 2 sisters interact ... and it was great to be in a household of just women where everyone had their job ... i was the computer girl and dishwasher ... my aunt and mom did their thing in the garden ... when we left at the end of the day, my trunk was loaded down with produce! and we all agreed, the time was too short ...

isn't pleasureable time always too short? why is that? ...

the things we don't enjoy ... the painful times ... they seem to last forever ...

yet joyful times are too short ...

i'm glad heaven is an eternal place, where our cup will continually overflow ...

now that work is done, my time has been filled with visiting, bike rides, reading, cleaning the house ... and the continued search for that elusive condo for us ... i know that it is in God's time ... yet, i keep looking ... and praying ... i want to be ready!!!

i was thinking about how important homes are to us all ... when Jesus left 2000 years ago - He said he was going to prepare a place for us ... a heavenly home ... and it must be lovely beyond description since He hasn't returned for us - yet ... yup, homes are important ...

just some rambling from my corner of the world ....

I'm a little jealous of your wonderful visit with your Mom & Aunt =). I miss my Mum and think of her often. How wonderful life must be for her now. Your days sound so relaxing...I'm glad for you. I'm varnishing woodwork this week and will be sooo glad when the torture is over...grin.

I'm glad you had a good visit. Sounds like a wonderful day! And who can argue with a trunk full of garden-fresh produce? :)

Great Post Saija...I love the quote...We will be leaving for a short visit to our family back in Illinois this next week. I just hate living out of a suitcase. The quote just fit the way I feel. Thanks for that. Have a great Sunday..

maggie ann ... one of the reasons i try to take time to really enjoy my mom's company is because i remember how sad you were and same with Gayla (heart journey) when your moms passed away ... my mom is only 71, but she has a bad ticker ... so i am glad when i have the chance to make memories ...

catherine ... a trunk full of veggies is always a good thing! *grin*

Terry ... hope you had a relaxing Sunday as well!

Sandy ... there's a downside to visiting - packing & suitcases! hope you enjoy despite that!

susie-Q ... plus i like puttering around my own digs ... though the longer we stay here at the rental, the more it "sort of" feels like home!

Hello again dear Saija.. And to be sure this was a lovely post!!

Bernie and I have just got home from my mom and dad's.
Every Sunday my dad spoils us.
He makes a really good dinner.
Ha!! Bernie has to do the dishes though while the rest of us, after dinner retire to the living room to sip on our tea!!
After all we don't want to be sipping our tea and eating our biscuits with the "hired help"!!

The trip you took sounded so relaxing and good.
It iS very nice listening to what happened in the olden days, although I guess you don't use that expression on your aunt.
It sounds like she and your mom are young at heart and might not like her good times to be considered the "olden days"!!
I remember when I was a teenager and asked my mom if they had shredded wheat in the olden days when she was a kid.
I sure didn't get a very pleasant look from her!![you know like if looks could kill?]
She must of been all of 32 years when I said that to her!!
And she STILL doesn't like to call it the olden days!!

Yes Heaven IS our home Saija and it will be so nice to meet the Lord and all His children when we get there.. We won't even need blogging machines!!!...Love Terry

Terry ... sounds like you had a lovely time ... so glad! :o) ... my mom & aunt don't mind having it called "olden days", they are both young at heart and can pretty well run circles around me (they are 71 and 79) - so the last laugh would be theirs! ... it's a golden prairie sunday ... must get back to my Chuck Colson book - he is just excellent! blessings to you ...

THere was a time in my life (and not so long ago) that I would have thought that the last place I would want to be would be hanging out with women.

I was raised to be competitive and that really hampered my ability to connect with other women.

It wasn't until we became involved in our present church that I really have been able to enjoy the other woen around me--perhaps that is because they are older, wiser, and completely supportive of one another. I feel so incredibly blessed to have landed here and be surrounded so.

tina ... i have never been a big "ladies bible study" type of person either ... i guess because i just couldn't relate to many of the girl topics ... but like you, i've come to appreciate the company of women more - maybe i've changed and i finally see through different eyes? *blessings*

mc ... all blessings gratefully accepted! :o)

elizabeth ... i count my blessings as i shamelessly ask the Lord for more (like a place to buy) ... but then i stop and tell Him I KNOW my cup overflows with the good things and the sweet people my life is populated with ... which includes my blog buds ... blessings to you ...
