at times it seems that everything works against a believer ... distracting us from the REAL task ahead ... i often stop and ask myself ... "will this matter in eternity?" ... that is my own personal checklist ... short, sweet and to the point ...
whatever may be bothering you today ... ask yourself, "will this matter in eternity?" ...

This has been sort of my 'resolution' this year. Actually, more than that, I believe God has called me to it - leading a significant life. Is what I'm doing sowing eternal purposes or merely temporal.
You're right, we can become easily distracted if we're not living moment by moment in obedience to His call.
