well last weekend i was able to indulge for the first time in years!!! but do you think i could find one??? well, after wandering around town, i stumbled on one right in front of my nose and right across the street!!!
this weekend, i thought i'd take my bike - just so i could expand my search further, and go faster!!!
when i left home, i did notice a yard sale that was only 5 houses from our place, but i didn't want to go to that one ... i "sort of" know these folks and i don't want to get too friendly because they like to "pop in" ... having a husband with chronic pain means that he doesn't do well with "pop in" visitors ... so i went for a lengthy bike ride, but alas couldn't find any other sales ... i mentally gave in and said, "ok Lord, i'll go see what they have ... " ...
of course that is where i found a plate for my eclectic dinnerware collection (the theme is english countrysides or other pastural pics) ... the lady of the house even went into her own cupboard to get this plate for me ... it cost a dollar ... and made me happy ...
i found the picture on it priceless ... a woman at rest, by the water - with an angel poised above ...
i guess i was meant to stop there ... and by doing that, it was me who ended up being blessed!
that was my saturday highlight ... *smile* ...

Ah...garage sales. I have been to those in ages. One more thing to look forward to!
Don't you just love that blessings can come from such least expected sources? I love the plate..is that black on cream?
pat ... maybe black on ivory ? i love it ... :o) ... now i have an eclectic set of 8 i think? maybe 9 ... i gave away my matching set of dishes last year!
I feel like i have seen that one before someplace. I have some old things that I am going to try to figure out how to sell on ebay one of these days. Great buy for you...plus it made your day. Sandy
Lovely find. I have some blue English dinner wear that is among my favorite.
Susan
Sandy ... i've never sold or bought on e-bay, but i would love to someday ... i'm just leary of the mailing & money exchange thing - but since thousands do it, i'm sure it's as safe as they can make it these days ... i have things i would like to sell on e-bay!
Susan ... i like seeing the picture, after the plate empties out ... :o) ... the scenes are pleasant and peaceful ...
Oh Saija...Wait till Maggie-ann sees this!
She will just LOVE it, I know!
I always loved the story about the woman at the well.
This reminds me of her.
Now THIS woman at the well on this plate, even though she is well dressed and probably good living would have had to realize that she had to be saved just as the poor lady in John, the despsied woman whom the Lord loved had realized her sin and wanted the water that the Lord Jesus was offering to her.
Pure water that would be flowing through her and would cause her to never thirst again!
Whenever I think of this lady now Saija, the song that Rodney Griffith wrote just rings through my heart, "I asked Him for water, He gave me the Well!!"
Have a great weekend you and Leo...Love Terry
I love garage sales.
You can find neat stuff
Take Care
Michael
Love the plate! I'm a fan of eclectic dinnerwear. :)
terry ... yes, the Living Water is the only thing that satisfies ... !
michael ... i'll take advantage of my summer off to see what i can find! :o)
catherine ... i find that type of dinnerware more interesting ... *grin*
I'm so glad you found that plate! I think you are the sweetest blogger I've come across, I can't wait til the day I have enough money to visit you. But I won't POP in...LOL
Dear Saija...I like your new picture,
You look so happy in it!!..Love Terry
That is a lovely, lovely plate. Such a peaceful scene. :) Good find.
It is a beautiful plate and I agree you were blessed. connie from Texas
I loved that plate! And you're correct the picture is wonderful!! I also have four similar kind of plates having picture in center. I look for blue ones. Well, as you can see of the amount of my plates I'm not very active in this collecting business... :) Maybe some day!
We don't have yard sales but while we lived in Colorado we did go to them. My favourite jacket was bought from one of them 11 years ago with a dollar. I still use it rather regurlarly and I have only once seen someone with the same kind of a jacket.
In stead of yad sales we have lots of second hand shops/flee markets. In some of them private people have their own tables. My favourite second hand shop here is the Fida. All the profit goes to mission work. We also donate lots of our stuff there.
ba doozie ... i better start telling some grumpier stories, eh? ... :o) ... and "pop in" isn't all bad, it's just that some folks don't "pop out" quickly enough! and a blog-get-to-gether is a dreamed for event ... blessings on ya!
jeanette ... isn't it? and guess who has been bike riding atleast twice a day? moi! when i do that, i think of you swimming daily ... good exercise! hope your work week starts out well!!
connie ... i think the blessings in my life out weigh the other stuff ... but it's the other stuff that makes me realize i DO have many blessings!
maiju ... when i was in finland, i went to some of those flea markets - they were fun ... i also went to the neatest bookstore in tampere, i looked around there for a LONG time! loved it ...
That plate looks like the plates we had when I was young (about 40 years ago) except ours were blue. Thanks for bringing back those memories. I love your blog and the way your testimony shows through it!
mari ... you're welcome re the memory maker ... :o) ... everything old is new again ... that'd be nice if it went for 50+ ladlies too!!! *grin*
What a beauty!!!
maggie ann ... i've eaten off of it already, and the food tasted yummier! :O)
Dear Saija...Mrs. Mac is going to have one giant yard sale.
