yay ... Christmas cards!

i have always LOVED Christmas cards ... i would rather get a mailbox full of cards & greetings from friends, then to have a tree loaded with gifts under it!

i used to make a card tree ...
click here ... at our cottage ... we had lights around the cards and when i looked at it - i would remember friends both new and old, near and far ...

this year i will have to try and think up a new way of posting the cards ... any ideas?

I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month. ~Harlan Miller

but... why can't you do your card tree? that was such a cool thing. :)

ummm, let's see. you could magnet them to your fridge. or tape them on your doorway(s).

we have a metal wreath that the cards slip into. put it by our front door. Hmmm

Jeanette ... there isn't a large enough wallspace for it, that would display it in the same way ... but the wreath is a great idea! i have to look for things like that - but maybe this Christmas i will tape them onto one of the doors or the side of my bookcase or something ... thanks!

In the past, I've stapled the cards to long ribbons and hung them in rows. That always looks neet.

These days I just put them in a trisquit box I have decorated to be Christmasy and call it good. We go through them around February to make sure we're not throwing out any new addresses or important photos... and then pitch them.

cptnwow ... love the new photo on the side! what a smile maker ... :) ... those are good ideas too ... next week, i will have to put out the ones i now have safely stored in the ottoman ... and what i do with the cards is recycle the ones i really love & use as postcards during another Christmas time ... or scan and use on my blog - like the pic i have posted today - that's a card from finland ... blessings on this "sammy" Christmas for you guys!

Dear Saija...I love cards so much that we just got our last years Christmas cards nicely down in October!! Haa!!
Mind you though we just used the string for all of our other greeting cards too like birthdays!
I just finished making my Christmas cards.. Now to get them into envelopes and mailing them! For any email addresses that I have of you guys, I will just send the email edition and you can print them out.
That is what I do when I get an email one! That works out pretty neat.

I remember in the olden days at home in Trenton and on the prairies that mom used to have strings and strings of cards.
That doesn't happen too much now-a-days.

Well I am off for blood tests...eeks!! Love Terry

That little Jel is going to be saying "Merry Christmas" several times before the actual day!
What a sweetheart she is!! She leaves a little sunshine to every blog that she visits!

The scrapbook Queen slaps them down in a scrapbook! So much fun to go through year after year and then steal ideas for other scrapbook pages! Congratulations on the move--glad to know you're settling in--I haven't begun the card thinking yet! Yike. No time now...always send a prayer letter, but sometimes we call it a New Year's Resolution letter... :) God bless!

antibk ... well that is a wonderful idea ... though i am finding space to store things, harder to come by - as the years go on ... :) ... and prayer letters are great to receive ... tho' this year, all normal traditions seem to have been left at the wayside with our move ... except for the "heart of Christmas"... blessings on ya!
