Old Friends

friends Posted by Hello

old friends are a blessing . . .

not that they are really chronologically old . . . :o) . . . just folks that knew us way back when ...

way back when L was as strong as a bull and full of playfulness, ready to take on the world and always ready to lend a hand to those less fortunate ...

way back when the world was still out there to explore and we felt we could accomplish a million feats in one life time ...

"way back when" . . . hmmm, maybe chronology does have something to do with it???

but i digress . . . we had a super visit with E this weekend . . . even tho’ we hadn’t seen him in over a year, we just easily picked up the conversation from where we had left it last visit . . . E became a believer a few years back, so the visits have been extra sweet . . . now the conversations are deeper with shared growth experiences in the Lord, as well as shared frailties ...

E is still married to the same gal who he met on a blind date at our place (my husband played cupid) . . . and as i said, he is still our friend SO he doesn’t hold that blind date against us!

Frank Capra’s "Its a Wonderful Life" is on NBC tonight . . . i love that movie because it inspires me to be the type of friend who loves through all seasons in life . . . i have been blessed with so many who love me in this way . . . sigh . . . thank you Lord.

Hi Saija... thanks for your comment at my blog! And thanks for reminding me about It's a Wonderful Life-- that's my all-time favorite movie (you're probably not surprised, huh?) :o) I have it on tape and maybe that will be the next movie I'll play for days in my kitchen. In your picture with this post, which couple is you and your husband? Just curious. I loved yesterday's picture, too (forgot to tell you sooner). Is she a relative of yours? God bless... Debra

haha re which couple we are in the post!!! we're the "younger looking ones" of course! :o)

the old pic in yesterday's post is a relative, but today's post it is half/half and which half is family, which are friends i'm a little hazy on . . .

your idea of posting old pics was so good, that i had to borrow it!

gotta go see if jimmy stewart and donna reed fall in love in It's a Wonderful Life (as a kid, i always wanted to be donna reed when i grew up!) . . .

thanx for the note . . . saija

I watched that movie for the first time back in March ... shortly after my surgery on my uterus and ovaries. Whacked out hormones were making me feel useless and depressed. That movie was an amazing reminder that just because I was struggling didn't mean my life was worthless.

those old movies can be so uplifting . . . and still have a good message plus great values which never go out of style . . .

hope you are 100% better after that surgery Jeanette!
