memories are made of these ...

33 years of living and loving together ... the time has truly gone by quickly ...

i've posted a few pics from the early years ... each one takes me back to a different place in our life together and evokes a different emotion ...

our engagement ... which was also the first time leo came over for a meal at my mom and step-dad's place ...

staking out our land ... where we built our first home - together - now there was a test of our marriage!

and just the youthful faces captured in the photos ... faces which once belonged to us!

"Lord i thank you for being with us during the highs and lows and all our tomorrows too" ...

my prayer has been that our marriage would be a tribute to how God can keep 2 polar opposites together and hopefully bring honour and glory to His name in the process ...

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years. ~Simone Signoret

Congratulations to both of you, Saija and Leo! P and I were married in 1974, too, as you might remember, and we are also 'polar opposites' in so many ways.

Saija, Those are cute pictures. I believe you were dog lovers. I'm sure those pretty, happy faces are still there. :-)

I think I had that same dress!
And, I think PH and I are polar opposites too--most of the time!

Congrats on 33 years!

sabine ... 74 was a good year, eh?! :o) ... and i see through the comments that many are like you and me - polar opposites from their spouses ... it may cause sparks to fly but that's what makes life interesting!!!

antibk ... the 70's must seem like ancient stuff to young people, but it seems so normal to me!! and the clothes are even back in fashion!

susan ... yes, i liked the quote too ... and i think it has a lot of wisdom in it ... leo is my family now and i couldn't view him any other way ...

cathy ... that was a karjalinen bear hound that belonged to my mom, but he liked us a whole lot! and we eventually had dogs of our own ... leo is still very definitely a cat person ...

passing-thru ... thank you! :o) ... that was our first car, a 1972 gran torino sport ... i loved to drive it, and come to think of it i didn't even crash it once - i have totalled one of our vehicles ... so you guys are 38 years now ... doesn't time fly!

jb ... it was a 2 piece little outfit ... :o) ... remember the clunky shoes too? and leo's hair was much shorter from when i first saw him, he got a haircut when we started dating ... *laughing* ...

I love seeing the pictures of you and Leo. It's fun seeing the older cars too! What a good thing to do on your anniversary - to look back at where you have come from and how God has been with you, then to look ahead, knowing he will still be right there!

I remember the 70's & they were some pretty desasterous years for me, but by the Grace of God I came through with only a few scars & some well learned lessons.

Happy belated anniversary wishes to yu and Leo! (And I still think it's totally unfair how you haven't aged in the last 30 years!) :) Blessings, Debra

Saija,
congratulations on your anniversary... love the pictures... save the one with your husbands long hair.. when he is bald he will want to show it to all his friends so they will believe that he really did have hair when you fell in love with him !! ha ha

What an absolutely great looking couple - why haven't you aged?
Congratulations and may you have many more years of that "opposite attraction"!

First, congratulations on 33 years of patience, tolerance and love between the two of you. This somehow made me think about how sad divorce is, because the threads are sewn, and then the attempt is made to rip them apart, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, but never without much pain

Saija said...

ba doozie ... tho' God can heal the broken hearted, even if something has torn a marriage apart ... my folks got divorced when i was 10, so i know the sadness of it from a child's viewpoint ... ((hugs))
