one more week ...

yes, that time has flown by ... only one more week and it will be Christmas Day ... thank you Jesus for your unspeakable Gift of salvation to us!

While shepherds kept their watching
O'er silent flocks by night,
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light

chorus:
Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.

The shepherds deared and trembled
When lo! above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Savour's birth;

chorus

Down in a lowly manger
Our humble Christ was born;
And God sent us salvation
that blessed Christmas morn

chorus

When I was a seeker
I sought both night and day
I sought the Lord to help me
And He showed me the way.

chorus

He made me a watchman
Upon the city wall
And If I am a Christian
I am the least of all.

chorus

I love that song and enjoyed reading the words - it helps me to really pay attention to the what they are saying.

It just struck me today that Christmas is only a week away. It seems I never feel like I'm ready. It was a nice moment to stop and read those beautiful words to that song...I needed that!

Very pretty picture with the wine (or brown?) colored print, Saija. Sometimes I am color blind!
You are so artistic. I love that hymn too. Yes, Christmas is coming quickly.

Dear Saija,
I never thought of the wonderful hymn as a Christmas Carol, but of course it is that too.
These days when so many things are changing for the worse, not being allowed to preach in school, the children not having their last day before Christmas in church,- we should really go out and cry it from the mountains instead.

Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by all this indifference.
I guess I'll have to set a new course and do more mountain singing.
God bless you and your Leo, Saija.

i'm glad you all enjoyed our "sing along" ... i remember hearing this song for the first time when i was 8 years old - living in a northern mining town - thinking about literally standing on a mountain top and telling folks of Jesus birth! :o)

it's cozy here in our little home, and stepping outside the quiet nest we've made here - seems to take more work at this time of year ... blessings on you guys!
