yes, i have lived in colder . . . in my high school years we lived way up north - and the winters were long and very frigid . . . but as a person gets older, well the long underwear just doesn't do the trick!!!
i wasn't going to post any more pics of our thermometer!! really i wasn't!! but i just couldn't help myself . . . the morning sky was pretty and the air was still . . . plus the tires on the car are probably square . . . have you ever driven a car with square tires? that is an interesting experience . . . they make a thud thud thud sound until the rubber bends back to where it is supposed to be . . .
hmmmm, i want to take a jaunt into town to check the mail and buy some milk ... but do i go out there? those are the major issues in my life this morning . . . stay tuned . . . as my world turns . . .

UPDATE: as Ari mentioned, the cold's not so bad - i just dressed warmly and enjoyed my little trek to town (remember it's a mile on a dirt road, a mile on a quiet country highway, over a narrow bridge and about 4 miles through cottage country) . . . just thought i'd let you know that we now have milk again, didn't want anyone to worry . . . :o)

I can't even comprehend how cold -43C is! Once you hit the negatives can you really feel the difference? Stay warm, girl!!!!!
brrrrrrrrr . . . -43C is colder than -40F, the C & F scales are the same at -40 . . . you can feel the ice crystals in your lungs when you breath and a person's face should be covered . . . the eyelashes get ice crystals on them too!!! thanx for the warm thoughts, Peg - but do you have any warm underwear to spare???? :o)
In the mid 80's I pastored a teeny church in Wisconsin. That winter it got down to -70F. What amzaed me is that it didn't seem to stop anyone. By comparison, Ohio, where I live now seems very temperate. Thinking and sending warm thoughts to you!
its much better to be living in the cold than in the heat...you can always wear a scarf or another sweater...

Hi daisymarie - thanx for stopping by . . . i think the REAL cold temps up here are "dry" temperatures (therefore easier to take - relative term!) . . . they have cancelled schools and school busses for today in our area - which is a good idea . . . but i am making plans to go get that mail and milk!!! :o)

you know how they say "it's a dry heat" for Arizona?
well we say something similar for here, but it's a "dry cold" ... anyway, i made it, without freezing body parts!!! Wahoo!! AND the car didn't have square tires, it had warmed up to -25C, which must explain it!!!
I just put a log on the fire.
Do you need anymore wood?
I'll bring some up on my next visit or you can take some from my woodpile the next time you stop by.

awww, thanx Michael!!! sure bring some wood next time you are over . . . :o) . . . the woodstove is a blazing at the moment, the cats sleeping on the couch, the husband is snoozing while watching hockey and i'm on the computer fixing up some old pictures (and checking mail) . . . so all's right in the world! nite nite from a cozy cottage in the Canadian deep freeze!

Hi Linda . . . i think that 50 in California, with that rain IS cold, so you're not a wimp ... that cool dampness is yucky - i've experienced it and it makes my bones ache! mind you, i wouldn't complain if the temps were about 20 degrees warmer here . . . :o) . . . your prayer is appreciated!
