sharing some treasures

here are some unsolicitated gift ideas . . . i thought i would mention these books because they are "older" ones, but such good reads that i didn't want them forgotten . . .

the first book on my easy read list is: "It's My Turn" by Ruth Bell Graham . . . she would have made a great blogger because she tells beautiful stories about her family, of being a young mom with kids to raise and a husband who was too frequently absent . . . she made me laugh, cry, and truly feel the Spirit ... plus this is a "stop and go" type of read for those that are too busy for the tomes!

Off topic, but what is the history behind your name? It's such a pretty name ...

i was born in finland, it is a finnish name that is probably equivalent to "sarah". . . i used to hate having an odd name when i was a kid . . . everyone pronouced it incorrectly, tho' i was never the type to correct folks, unless i let them into my inner circle! . . . and now you are wondering how it is pronounced, right? . . . sigh yuh . . . the "j" is like the spanish "j" with a yuh type of sound . . .

:o) . . . how were you pronoucing it in your head?

have a great weekend Jeanette!

Hi Saija,

I am a new blogger and I came across your blog through Debra than Jeannette. Can I ask you how you added "blogs I read" under your I power blogger icon? I am still learning!
Thanks,
Peg

thanx for stopping by Peg, i sent you an e-mail with some notes . . . i know that Jeanette, Debra, Michael and Rick would be chuckling 'cause this might be the case of the "blind leading the blind" . . . but i'm happy to share whatever i have stored in my gray matter! :o)

Ohh, I'm not chuckling. You learn by trial and error, and I think you've learned well. :)

I live in California, which is highly populated by hispanics ... thus, I was saying it the correct way. How funny is that?

Jeanette: that is funny! but cool too . . . how ever did you figure it out . . . :o)

Hi Saija and Jeanette and Peg... All of these comments are making me chuckle this afternoon! Saija-- I will probably forever pronounce your name the way I've been pronouncing it in my head--the wrong way. I tend to get stuck like that. I've been pronouncing it rather like (see if I can do this) "Say juh" (soft-sounding j, though)...tee...heee.. Do you get that a lot? :o) Thanks again, though, for making me giggle on my visit over here! God bless... Debra

Debra: well you've done well because of the soft "j" sound . . . and the finnish language is so different from english that a lot of folks pronounce the first part "say" . . . even people i've known for decades ... i answer to just about anything . . . :o)

i really love all those pics you've been using . . . they are a visual delight!!!! makes my day!

blessings! saija

How ever did I figure out ... the HTML?

Self-taught. There are some pretty good websites out there that teach it. Once I learned it, then I learned Frontpage and Dreamweaver (web design programs) and took a college course for webmasters. I did well with the "design" classes, not so good with the programming languages.

Jeanette: :o) . . . i was keeping with the name theme and was surprised that you (Debra too) were so smart with phonetics and instinctively knew that the j was a soft sound . . . but hey, i'm glad you let me know your smarts re html, etc!!! pretty impressive!!! i'm hoping to do some self eduction in the new year, after the christmas rush . . . have a good weekend!!!! s

Oh, sorry ... the soft "j" I figured out because Spanish is spoken in California. In fact, now, it's a mandatory 2nd language in the schools around here.
